It is important to know that many universities offer different funding options and public and private grants available to students who match the application criteria. Before applying, it is a good idea to check the institutions’ websites and inquire about the options available to you.

Many universities require applicants to pay fees such as matriculation or dissertation fees, even if they offer a fully funded programme with or without a stipend.

The final assessment is by examination of your submitted thesis and a viva voce (oral examination).

Entry requirements

Digital Portfolio

‍Digital Portfolios and supporting visual material must be submitted before 23:59 (UK time) on the relevant applicant deadline date above in order to be considered within that review period.

Applicants to programmes that require a Digital Portfolio submission will be provided with login details for the GSA Digital Portfolio website within 1 working day of submitting their completed application form.

Applicants who submit their completed application form on anApplicant Deadline date above, before 13:00 (UK time), will be sent log-indetails on the same day before 16:00 (UK time). Applicants who submit theirapplication form after 13:00 (UK time) on any applicant deadline date abovewill not be invited to upload their Digital Portfolio on the same day and willautomatically move to the next review period.

English Language Requirement

The Glasgow School of Art expects all students to demonstrate proficiency in the English language, which for UK students is normally shown by a pass in Higher or GCSE English. International students should refer to the list of English Language entry requirements by programme which can be found here.

Applicants who require a Student Visa, and who are not a national of, nor have obtained a degree in one of the countries on the approved UKVI exemption list, will need to provide evidence of their English language ability through the use of a standardised test.

The GSA’s preferred test is the IELTS for UKVI (Academic) test taken at a UKVI approved test centre. A full list of alternative English Language tests that may be presented can be found here.
