It is important to know that many universities offer different funding options and public and private grants available to students who match the application criteria. Before applying, it is a good idea to check the institutions’ websites and inquire about the options available to you.
Many universities require applicants to pay fees such as matriculation or dissertation fees, even if they offer a fully funded programme with or without a stipend.

The form and length of PhD theses also vary depending on discipline area and topic (and writing style of the author). However, most standard theses are between 60,000 and 80,000 words in length (with the maximum permitted length normally being 90,000).

To be accepted on our PhD programme, you will need a Bachelor’s degree of at least 2:1 level (or equivalent), or a master’s degree, in a subject related to your proposed PhD research topic.
If you are from outside the UK, you will also need to demonstrate a certain level of proficiency with written and spoken English.
