Education at the Doctoral School takes place on a full-time basis (classes are held on working days) and lasts four years.
Doctoral candidates must undergo the recruitment procedure and once recruited, throughout the entire period of their education they enjoy full student rights and receive a doctoral scholarship.
According to Polish Law on Higher Education and Science, a doctoral scholarship is not granted to a doctoral candidate who already holds a PhD degree. There can be also other categories that are NOT eligible to receive the scholarship: it is a good idea to check the institutions’ websites before applying.
Public University
- PhD fully funded and with a stipend by the university
- PhD funded by the university but without a stipend
It is important to know that many universities offer different funding options and public and private grants available to students who match the application criteria. Before applying, it is a good idea to check the institutions’ websites and inquire about the options available to you.
Many universities require applicants to pay fees such as matriculation or dissertation fees, even if they offer a fully funded programme with or without a stipend.

Education at the doctoral school ends with the submission of the doctoral dissertation together with a positive opinion of the supervisor or supervisors.

Study languages: Polish
All fields of study involve factors harmful to health, and therefore universities are required to refer candidates for medical examinations with an occupational medicine physician to confirm there are no contraindications to commencement of studies.
